Chuck Porter
Secretary
Chuck Porter is a life-long technologist, consultant, educator, innovator and investor. After working a third of a century at Accenture, he completed his consulting career as Accenture’s Managing Partner – CIO in 2004. He “came out of retirement” in 2011 to serve 5 years as Seattle University’s inaugural CIO. He retired from Seattle University in July 2016.
Since 2004, he has also taught Entrepreneurial Finance, New Venture Creation, and New Venture Consulting at Gonzaga University in Florence, Italy and Seattle University’s Albers Graduate School of Business and Economics. He is a member of the Seattle University Board of Trustees and serves on SU’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Board.
He is active in the Seattle Angel Finance Community investing in numerous early stage companies and serving as a Board Member or Advisor to many of them. He was recognized as Puget Sound Venture Group’s “Man of the Year” in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. In December 2014 he received Puget Sound Business Journal’s CIO lifetime achievement award.
He is an active member of the Life Science Community in the US Pacific Northwest through the Life Science Washington Institute. Life Science Washington is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(6) trade association serving the life sciences industry in the state of Washington. Our members include organizations engaged in, or supportive of, the research, development and commercialization of life science technologies. Its many industry sectors include biotechnology, medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, health IT, global health, and bio-agriculture, among others.
Porter is also a founding member of Seattle Children’s Hospital Innovation Guild and serves as its Secretary.
Porter received his BA in Mathematics and Computer science from Gonzaga University in 1972 and his MBA (Finance and Computer Simulation) from the University of Michigan in 1974.
In his spare time, he is an avid motorcyclist, professional photographer, traveler, SCUBA diver and former pilot.
